COVID-19
INACTIVE --- Testing of COVID-19

Cyril (47 years old)

Cyril, a 47-year-old nurse practitioner, calls you to be reassured about his health status.

16 days ago, his wife was diagnosed SARS-CoV-2 positive, and 2 days later he also developed symptoms suggesting the infection (cough, headache, prostration), but his RT-PCR test was negative on that day. Due to the quarantine regimen he stayed at home in isolation from his wife, but 10 days ago he developed other COVID-19 typical symptoms such as high fever (up to 39 °C) and muscle pain.

Now he feels better, however he is still coughing. Due to the shortage of medical staff he wants to return back to work as soon as possible, provided he does not have an ongoing SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Which testing strategy would you advise now to exclude an ongoing SARS-CoV-2 infection?
