Claudia (67 years old)

Claudia, a 67-year-old woman, visited her doctor after experiencing persistent back pain following a stumble on her porch. An X-ray revealed an unusual lesion in her spine. Further diagnostic tests ultimately confirmed the presence of metastatic breast cancer.

Assessment summary:

  • Postmenopausal
  • ECOG PS: 0
  • Short bowel syndrome with history of chronic diarrhoea; no other significant medical history
  • No family history of breast cancer
  • Imaging:
    • 4 cm tumour in the left breast, 3 suspicious axillary lymph nodes
    • Multiple suspicious lesions in the spine
    • 2 lesions suspicious for metastases in the liver
  • Biopsy of breast and liver lesion: breast cancer, NST, ER 80%, PgR 60%, HER2 IHC 0, G2
  • Haematology and biochemistry: all values normal
  • Germline BRCA-status: wild type
