Geoff, 79 years old and not so fit anymore, lives in a nursing home, where he met his third wife. He sometimes brings her a piece of sugar-free cake from the cafeteria, to enjoy on their favourite bench in the garden. He presents with complaints of abdominal pain.

Assessment summary:

  • Comorbidities: diabetic nephropathy
  • BMI: 28.4
  • Blood work:
    • Normal liver function
    • Decreased renal function: eGFR 39 ml/min/1.73 m²
    • Hb: 11.1 g/dl (normal range: 13.6-17.7 g/dl)
  • Lab: urinalysis: normal
  • Abdominal contrast-enhanced CT:
    • Radiologically indeterminate SRM (1.1 cm) of the left kidney
    • cT1a
