COVID-19 vaccines

Adriana (70 years old)

A 70-year-old Adriana who has rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for 12 years recently moved into town and you are her new GP. She has completed the primary series of mRNA-based Moderna vaccine.

She heard on television that getting a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination could interfere with the treatment regimen for RA. Now she is very sceptical about getting a booster dose, fearing that disruption of the treatment regimen can cause her a lot of pain.

Her medication:

  • Methotrexate (MTX) 10 mg once a week
  • Tocilizumab 162 mg once a week as a subcutaneous injection
