Adjuvant therapy in RCC

Joachim (65 years old)

Joachim, a 65-year-old carpenter, brings wood to life with his skilled hands. In the soft glow of his workshop, where the air is rich with the scent of sawdust and the steady rhythm of his hammer, he shapes raw timber into creations both robust and beautiful, day after day.

Unfortunately, he was recently diagnosed with RCC.

Assessment summary:

  • ECOG PS: 0
  • No relevant comorbidities
  • Thoracoabdominal and pelvic CT scan: central tumour of the right kidney (9 cm) without LN involvement

He underwent radical nephrectomy of the right kidney 6 weeks ago.

Pathological findings:

  • pT2a tumour of 8.5 cm, no vascular involvement
  • WHO/ISUP grade 3 ccRCC
  • 20% tumour necrosis
  • No sarcomatoid features
  • Negative surgical margins

The patient has recovered after surgery and comes to you for check-up. No metastatic lesions were identified on post-surgery CT scan.
