Renal cell carcinoma
Adjuvant therapy in RCC

Astrid (61 years old)

Astrid, a 61-year-old translator, can effortlessly switch between five languages faster than most people switch TV channels. Yet, she still manages to mix up "dessert" and "desert" in every translation, leaving her clients wondering whether they're in for a sweet treat or an unexpected adventure in the Sahara.

Unfortunately, she was recently diagnosed with RCC.

Assessment summary:

  • ECOG PS: 1
  • Controlled hypertension and diabetes mellitus type 2
  • Thoracoabdominal and pelvic CT scan: renal mass of 6.5 cm in the upper pole of the right kidney without LN involvement.

She underwent partial nephrectomy of the right kidney 6 weeks ago.

Pathological findings:

  • pT2a tumour of 7 cm, no vascular involvement
  • WHO/ISUP grade 4 ccRCC
  • Tumour necrosis present
  • No sarcomatoid features
  • Negative surgical margins

The patient has recovered after surgery and comes to you for check-up. No metastatic lesions were identified on post-surgery CT scan.
