Emma (33 years old)

Emma is a 33-year-old flight attendant on short-haul flights within Europe. She can really comfort people who have fear of flying. She was diagnosed with breast cancer on the right side after she felt a little lump in her right breast.

Assessment summary

  • Family history: mother diagnosed with breast cancer at 56 years of age
  • Oncogenetic testing: BRCA1 carrier
  • No relevant medical history, ECOG PS: 0
  • Tumour size: cT2 (31 mm), LN status: cN1
  • Tumour biology: ductal invasive carcinoma of NST, ER 0%, PgR 0%, HER2 0, Ki67 55%, G2
  • CT scan chest/abdomen and bone scan: no distant metastases
  • Primary systemic therapy: 4 cycles EC dd + 12 weekly paclitaxel + carboplatin
  • Lumpectomy + ALND (deemed best strategy based on tumour/breast size):
    • Residual tumour: ypT1c ypN0
