Roxanne (55 years old)

Roxanne is a 55-year-old bass guitarist. She recently performed at a huge music festival and was in close contact with several others who tested positive for COVID-19. She also tested positive by rapid antigen test. She presents with mild/moderate symptoms like high fever, nasal congestion, sore throat, and shortness of breath for the past 4 days. On examination, she appears in no distress and she is not tachypnoeic, with a respiratory rate of 20 breaths per minute. Her oxygen saturation is 93% on room air.

Medical examination:

  • CRP: 30 mg/l
  • Leukocyte count: 7.8 x 109/l          
  • Blood urea nitrogen: 12 mg/dl
  • Creatinine: 114 μmol/l
  • Glomerular filtration rate (GFR): 47 ml/min

She is obese and consequently has developed renal impairment over the years.
